Waipu Caves Farm Park

Run & Walk Series

A series of several run walk events at Waipu Caves Farm Park, a 320 acre private conservation & recreation park.

The terrain varies across, farm road, forest trails, grass paddocks, up hills, along valley flats and some across rivers and through muddy ponds.

Each event has a different mix of terrain to best suit the theme.  Some are fun events, some are race events, some are mud-runs.

Co-ordinating events is nothing new to us, but this is the first season of doing the run walk and mudrun events.  We will have some learning along the way and so we are starting with just 300 participants.  The plan is that we will have these events each month from May to October each year.   We already run Cave Concerts from October to April and school and youth camps.

School Cross Country - we will also be offering these run walk events to schools on the Friday before the weekend events.  Please contact us about this.

MORE INFO TO COME

The below images, show the approx course layout in a quick digital sketch.  a drone shot before obstacles being built, and some of the staff building a spectator bridge which participants run under.

This section edited by Ian Fox 5pm Tuesday 7th July 2026.

We are rapidly building the structures for the mud run on 25th July.

The ponds and most earthworks were done in May.

Last week the hardest structure to build, the spectator bridge 7.2m long, 1.6m wide, with obstacles hanging down underneath for mud monster participants to run under.

We started the hanging car tyre obstacle 8m long, 4m wide, 3m high of hanging tyres to push through.

This week the dive through tunnels, which spectators walk over.

Still to install with our staff is:

logs to go over some of the ponds.

slides 12m long into a pond.

cargo nets, curtains, and much more.

YOU WILL BE CHALLENGED BY THE OBSTACLES.

YOU WILL BE MUDDY.
