Waipu Caves Farm Park    Being within nature.......

Waipu Caves Farm Park is a privately owned conservation and recreation park opened in 2023.  The jewel of the park and a major jewel of the Northland Region is the Milky Way Glowworm Cave.  Kept secret for more than 100 years it was opened in February 2023 for public viewing as a walk-in show-cave.  Considered one of the best glowworm caves in New Zealand with the largest amount of close up opportunity and educational experience with glowworms.  In 2025 a second, deeper chamber in the cave was opened, named the Starburst Cathedral due to its size and beauty, it is a space where several music concerts are held over the drier months.

Over 200 acres of the land is covered in rich biodiverse native forest filled with karst limestones rocks covered in ferns and moss. Clear streams flow down the valley past campgrounds where people immerse themselves in the natural beauty, leisure and outdoor recreation.

School and youth camps are able to do a range of challenging activities such as rock climbing, bouldering, abseiling, bush walks, obstacle course and more.

Come as a day visitor or stay in your motorhome, caravan or tent.

You can have a guided cave tour or just relax or have an ice cream, chips, lollies, coffee and cold drinks from our small shop/office.

At Waipu Caves Farm Park, kids and adults connect within nature.  There are trees to climb with rope swings and the river to explore and play in.  There are rocks everywhere to climb on, bike on the farm roads and walk in the bush.

There is no TV room or wifi and minimal cell phone coverage.

About 100 acres is used for farming livestock.

The property is off grid with solar energy, providing power for the owners house, workshops and the entire camp infrastructure.

We look forward to having you visit.
